How to Strap a Motorcycle Helmet Properly
Whether you are a new or experienced bikers, strap on helmet properly is an important thing. If you leave it loose or even not strapping on it, it endangers you when there is a crash. The problem here is how to make sure your helmet properly strapped on. Therefore, you both feel comfortable and safe.
Motorcycle helmet commonly has two types. The first one is the full-face. Another one which is cheaper is an open face helmet. However, both have the same strap connectors which ensure the helmet suits.
The standard helmet must have this. Otherwise, it has the possibility to go away from your head if you experience a crash. It makes your head uncovered and gets damage. At least, the helmet turns to another side while crashing. So that the helmet only cover a certain part of your head.
To start ensuring the safety, and right before strapping, make sure the helmet is standard! The helmet strap connector must be tight and the strap rope must be in good condition. Strap on helmet properly only can perform once your helmet is a standard one. Next, you may follow these steps:
Pull the helmet inside properly
First of all, you should put the helmet on the head. Put down the helmet and also the chin part. Make sure the sponge inside is not to tight (So, you become less comfortable), or not too loose (so the helmet will move side by side all the time you). In this step, you should place the strap connector on the outside part while pulling down the helmet. Keep your both hand grip the strap rope so you can easily strap on it later.
Strap on helmet properly
Now, you can strap right chin strap rope under the metal ring connectors on the aft part. Pull the strap tightly against the base of the chin. Then, pull the rings apart, loop it and strap it back over the first ring. Place that strap under the second ring and bring it back to the right side.
Fasten and loosen the strap
Fell the confidence! If you think it is improperly placed on your head, fasten and loosen it till you feel comfort. This way makes sure the use of helmet fit on your head. Sometimes, if you fasten it too much, it could make you hard to take a breath. If the strap loosens too much, it is not the safe one.
Strap on helmet properly is not a difficult procedure. However, many people have less attention on it and usually leave it loose, improperly plugin. People usually forget to make sure the strap rope is tight enough or not. It is a simple step factor your safety.

Additional Tips and Warnings
- Use the oil once a week to prevent the rust exists on the metal ring connectors. Usually, after being used for several months, rust exists. It makes you feel difficulties to strap on the helmet and to put it off. Lubricants oil can both make it smooth and prevent the rust.
- Not too tight or too loose for strapping on the helmet. If it is too tight, it causes discomfort. It blocks the way of breath on your neck. If it is too loose, it is dangerous.
- For the open-face helmet, you must be extra careful for the previous tips above. The open-face helmet can easily slide up and uncover the forehead part in a sudden move while motorcycle crash. Therefore, make sure the strap is strong enough
- Put the helmet up and down to measure the empty space inside the helmet. Therefore, you can estimate how safe the helmet use is.
Strap on the helmet is easy as long as you know the proper procedure. If you think your helmet has broken strap rope, you can place the helmet for reparation. Replacing the broken strap rope for the new one. The point to make sure the strap condition first. It makes you can easily strap on a helmet in a good fit.
